A swimming pool is great, but a swimming pool with a fountain is awesome. Okay, so we may not be the Kardashians and live in grandeur and opulence, but there are some pretty sound reasons to install a pool fountain in your home swimming pool. (And it doesn’t have to be a Sun City styled creation either.)

Why install a pool fountain?

Summer in South Africa is hot. If you live on the coast, then you have the added humidity element which can make you feel like your face is melting right off. Therefore, when you hop into the pool, you want something refreshing and cool, not tepid bathwater.

A pool fountain actually cools your water, did you know that? The tiny droplets of water are cooled by the surrounding air as they are shot up or around and return a couple of degrees colder than when they left the spout. 

Pretty and practical!

Another benefit of installing a pool fountain is a little harder to quantify but just as important. As it happens, we humans find the sound of running or moving water relaxing. It has a de-stressing effect on us, which, after this year, is more than welcome. 

Further to that, the negative ions created by splashing or flowing water have a very real impact on us psychologically. One article says, “According to scientific studies, negative ions increase the flow of oxygen to the brain which improves mood and reduces stress and anxiety. The sound of running water also aids in diminishing depression, increased mental clarity, greater emotional stability and an overall sense of well-being.” 

To top it all off, pool fountains are pretty. It may sound trite, but a great looking garden with an attractive pool fountain adds to the aesthetic value of your property and will almost certainly increase its value.
